Laura Skuciene – Receptionist

Laura qualified as a dental nurse in 2013 (Diploma in Dental Nursing, NVQ Level 3) and has since completed a range of other courses including an orthodontist straight wire course at Queen Mary University and the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry ‘4 steps from Disney To Dentistry’ patient experience course.

Before joining the Essex Smile Centre in July 2019, she gained experience working for several other practices in and around London.

Laura’s favourite aspect of the job is cosmetic dentistry as she enjoys seeing the impact it has on patients’ smiles as well as their confidence. She also enjoys putting anxious patients at ease by reassuring them and providing support both at the reception desk and in the surgery.

Married to a very lucky guy (her own words!), Laura’s favourite thing to do outside of work is to try new restaurants – she has recently moved to Essex, so has plenty of them still to discover. She also loves cooking healthy meals for her husband and their friends and taking pictures of gourmet lunches. During quiet times, she enjoys reading inspiring quotes and articles, listening to healing music as well as practising a bit of meditation.

If she could invite any 4 celebrities to a dinner party at her house, she would choose Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Lady Gaga and Barack Obama.

Sam Wheeler – Admin/Office Manager

Sam joined the Essex Smile Centre in October 2019 and is responsible for coordinating all admin and business management tasks within the practice.

With over 30 years’ experience in dentistry, Sam worked for many years within a large sedation practice and has a special interest in nervous patients. Her wealth of dental knowledge helps Sam manage back office tasks at the Essex Smile Centre, ensuring patient enquiries are followed up in a timely way and supplier relations are maintained in order to achieve high levels of customer service.

Sam holds a National Certificate in Dental Nursing and is qualified in Adult and Paediatric Advanced Life support. She has also completed the Saad Sedation Nursing course (2019).

She lives with her two adult daughters and working cocker spaniel Poppy. A theatre fan, she has been to see most of the West End shows with her daughters. Sam also enjoys the cinema, crafts and baking.

Nina Silvio-Crowder – Finance Manager

Before joining the Essex Smile Centre in July 2019, Nina spent nine years working as a Business Manager for a Japanese bank and a further nine years providing accountancy and bookkeeping services to a variety of organisations.

Nina is married with two daughters, a cat called Rosie and a Malltipoo called Pepe. She plays netball, a sport that she coaches for her girls’ local club. She also loans a pony called Alfie, so when she is not on the netball court, you’ll find her at the stables.

We asked Nina for the three words that best sum her up. Her reply was “outgoing, friendly and sociable”.  We asked about her favourite tipple and were offered three more words: “vodka & diet coke!”.

Vicci Macgregor – Receptionist

Vicci joined the Essex Smile Centre as a receptionist in 2019 after some time spent in a similar role with another local dental practice. Prior to that, she worked for several local care homes, where her kind and helpful nature must have been greatly appreciated by the residents.

As a member of our friendly client customer team, Vicci will great you on the phone or in reception, booking up check-ups and treatments whilst ensuring your visit to our surgery runs as smoothly as possible. Vicci says that the most rewarding thing about her work is seeing happy patients leave the practice once their treatment has been completed.

Vicci lives with her partner Martin and has three grown-up children. Her daughter lives in South Korea where she works as a teacher and her two sons are studying at university. She is also the owner of a gorgeous cat called Snarf and an albino pygmy hedgehog called Genie.

Outside of work, she’s an avid runner and has completed 7 marathons and 16 half marathons. She loves spending time with her partner, family and friends. Favourite things to do include watching a West End show, going to concerts and watching the tennis.

We asked Vicci about her greatest vice and favourite tipple – chocolate and white wine came the answer. She also said her favourite Sunday morning would be spent going for a long run. So, after all that eating, drinking and exercise, it should come as no surprise that the luxury item Vicci would choose on a desert island is a pillow – to get some rest!
