I have recently undergone having two dental implants and I am very pleased with the results.
The whole experience for me has been pain free and the end result is amazing.
The reason I decided to go for implants was not for vanity but for practicality, I was not keen on the other two options offered to me (a bridge or denture).
The dentist Deepam Patel was excellent and made the whole experience pleasant and reassuring.
Right from the word go Deepam explained the options, the procedure and what to expect, I felt very at ease all the way through.
For me I can honestly say I did not experience any pain all the way through the whole procedure.
It started with a consultation then a CT scan of my mouth which produced a 3D x-ray image of my bone structure within my mouth this enable Deepam to work out what would be the best position and implants for the area concerned, in my case two implants next to each other to the rear of my lower jaw.
Then the day to have the implants placed came and within no time at all they were in place. 6 weeks later I had the impressions taken for the replacement teeth which took about 20 minutes then one week later after a 20 minute appointment my new teeth were in and after about an hour it felt like they had always been there.
The whole experience from the consultation through to new teeth being fitted took 3 months and well worth it.
I’m very pleased with the results and would definatly recommend Deepam and The Smile Centre to anyone considering having implants.

Dental implants

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and can be used to support a crown, bridge or denture depending on the number of missing teeth.

Dental implants are currently the closest possible replacement to having your natural teeth back and are by far the biggest advancement in dentistry to date. This innovative treatment provides a permanent solution for patients who wish to effectively recapture the aesthetic and functional nature of their smile.

Why would you need dental implants?

Dental implants help to maintain the jaw bone ensuring that your face keeps its youthful appearance. The dental implants are placed directly into the jaw bone and over time will become firmly attached or integrated with the bone and act in a similar manner to a tooth root.

The Procedure

Candidates for a dental implant need to healthy gums and adequate bone levels to support the implant. A thorough evaluation by one of our Dentists will help determine whether you are a good candidate for Dental Implants. If there is insufficient bone material, various bone enhancing procedures can be performed prior to the Dental Implant placement.

The placement of a dental implant is typically completed in less than an hour.

The dental implant with a healing cap attached is placed into the jawbone (either immediately after the loss of a tooth, or after an extended period of time, to ensure that the site has sufficiently healed). Post-operative discomfort is normally less than that of a tooth extraction, but you may find you need to take some painkillers for a few days following treatment. After a period of three to six months of healing, which allows the bone to grow and secure the implant in place. The healing cap is removed from the implant and the final restoration is completed. This can be either a crown, bridge or removable denture.
