At The Smile Centre we strive to give back to our highly valued local community…
Red Nose Day
All the staff at THE SMILE CENTRE enjoyed supporting Red Nose Day
This year we decided to get involved by asking our dentists to be receptionists for the day, to give them an insight into how busy this role can be. So on the 18th March 2011, our dentist Declan and Stephen, dressed in fancy dress as a toothbrush and tooth paste, began answering the phone and booking appointments as well as the other duties the reception team have to undertake.
They were sponsored by staff, patients and friend and did very well, with the help of our professional reception team and managed to raise a total of £132.10
The Smile Day
Linda, our patient Care co-coordinator felt she wanted to educate our youngsters and in some cases ‘elders’ about the effect different foods and drinks have on our teeth. With the help of her sister, they designed posters which were displayed in out customer lounge, and handed out leaflets in the hope that people would change the things they eat and drink to improve their oral health
As you can see from the photos the day was very successful.
DENTAID AND OPERATION SMILE
The Smile Centre is pleased to be able to support and donate to Dentaid and Operation Smile.
Dentaid was formed in 1996 and is improving the world’s oral health one smile at a time, by improving access to safe, sustainable and affordable dental care in the UK and overseas. Dentaid is focused not only on providing equipment through their DentaidBox – a portable dental surgery complete with a chair that can be operated without access to water and electricity, but also on oral health education projects in schools and training for health workers.
Operation Smile was founded in 1982 and is an international medical charity whose global network of thousands of credentialed medical volunteers from more than 80 countries, is dedicated to helping improve the lives of children from more than 60 countries. They help to provide surgical care for children suffering from a cleft lip, a cleft palate and other facial deformities. As well as training local medical professionals so they are empowered to treat their local communities.
All the team at The Smile Centre hope that by supporting these worthwhile causes we can help to improve access to dental and medical treatment in the UK and across the world.
