Crowns
Rejuvenate the health and appearance of your smile

Crowns, commonly known as 'caps' completely cover a weak tooth above the gum and protect it. Crowns are made of metal, porcelain or a combination of the two. Often considered when there is not much tooth left, a Crown can restore your tooth to its full natural function. Crowns can also be used as the final restoration for a Dental Implant.

Patients may require a Crown for a number of different reasons. Beneficial to cracked, broken, decayed or diseased teeth; Porcelain Crowns are a safe and effective dental restoration.

Porcelain Crowns may also be implemented to repair the following oral conditions;

  • Excessive grinding of teeth or an improper bite
  • An irritable large filling
  • Inadequate oral hygiene
  • Ageing teeth
  • After a Root Canal Treatment
  • For Bridges - When missing teeth are replaced with a Bridge, the adjacent teeth require Crowns in order to support the replacement teeth.

Porcelain Crowns may be made to match the exact colour, texture and translucency as your natural teeth. They look and feel so natural and no one will even know you have them.

Fitting a Crown requires at least two appointments. During your first visit, the tooth is prepared for the Crown, an impression or mould is made of the tooth, and a temporary Crown is placed over the prepared tooth. At the subsequent visit, the temporary Crown is removed and the final Crown is fitted and adjusted and cemented into place.

Bridges
A solution to tooth loss

Replacing missing teeth by literally 'bridging' the gap, a Bridge is one option to help restore your function, improve your health and alleviate the pain that an incorrect bite can cause.

A Bridge is made where a tooth is missing and consists of Crowns on either side of the space, joined together by a false tooth in the middle. The Bridges are bonded in place by the Crowns which are attached to natural teeth on either side of the space.

Bridges are made in the laboratory and are a permanent solution to tooth loss.
